MARIO WORLDS
FOUNDATIONS OF DESIGN: REPRESENTATION -

SEMESTER 1, 2021
The colorful world of the Mario Brothers inspired this project, and using individual elements taken by transforming 2D images into 3D vector shapes. Manipulating screenshots of the "Mario Worlds" creates an illustrated environment twisting together.
The ongoing development, growth and movement of the projected space aimed to be conveyed in the use of static objects twisting and curving into living abstractions of geometry. The two given projections inspire and interact seamlessly in the hill and underground structures, expressing the interconnectedness of floating world with its own duality.
This sense of interconnection is immensely interesting in unveiling the depth hiding beneath the surface of the world in terms of the darkness, the crumbling cave spaces and hanging elements, while also giving dimension to the otherwise rigid, flat hill shapes. The interweaving spaces between the clouds and hills are hidden spaces of their own, with interesting geometric patterns almost mirrored in the ever-falling cave structure.
